I hesitate to use the word 'Winner' as it was an award where 'the score' so to speak, did not matter. All clubs were warmly acknowledged for their deeds and efforts and I personally couldn't have felt more proud. In front of some very prominent football identities such as Kevin Sheedy, Peter Schwab and our very own VAFA CEO Michael Sholly, the speaker captivated the audience with brave Teddy's story and acknowledged the wonderful support that our own major sponsor, The Proteus Leadership Centres had given. It is with great pleasure and pride to announce to all members and people with a sincere interest in the Box Hill North Football club, that in the past week, Josh and I have been invited along to Football Victoria's members meeting to represent our club as one of the five finalist for Community Club of the Year Award, to be awarded this Friday evening. This nomination has come about following our tremendous efforts with 'Shave your head for Ted' and all the love and support we as a club had offered. Our gratitude though for this recognition must go to our major sponsor Des Penny (Proteus Leadership Centers) for his kindness, compassion and extremely generous sponsorship of the evening who contributed in excess of $3000 towards the well being of little yet brave Teddy Hood.
Regardless of who wins, I'll remain full of pride and that for me is enough to know that we are winners.
